Little Red Riding Hood Short Story

Once upon a time there was a dear little girl who was loved by every one who looked at her, but most of all by her grandmother, and there was nothing that she would not have given to the child. Once she gave her a little cap of red velvet, which suited her so well that she would never wear anything else. So she was always called Little Red Riding Hood.

One day her mother said to her, "Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a piece of cake and a bottle of wine. Take them to your grandmother, she is ill and weak, and they will do her good. Set out before it gets hot, and when you are going, walk nicely and quietly and do not run off the path, or you may fall and break the bottle, and then your grandmother will get nothing. And when you go into her room, don't forget to say, good-morning, and don't peep into every corner before you do it."

I will take great care, said Little Red Riding Hood to her mother, and gave her hand on it.

The grandmother lived out in the wood, half a league from the village, and just as Little Red Riding Hood entered the wood, a wolf met her. Little Red Riding Hood did not know what a wicked creature he was, and was not at all afraid of him.

"Good-day, Little Red Riding Hood," said he.

"Thank you kindly, wolf."

"Whither away so early, Little Red Riding Hood?"

"To my grandmother's."

  • When do we worship?

Sundays during the school year, we typically have two morning services: 8:00am and  9:30 am (our principal service). We also offer 4:00pm services: 1st Sunday - Choral Evensong, 2nd Sunday - Informal Eucharist, and 3rd Sunday - Vespers.

  • What to expect?

When you arrive, you will be greeted by our faithful volunteers who serve as greeters and ushers. Before and after the 9:30am service, a member of our Newcomer Committee will be at the exit to answer any questions you might have. We encourage visitors to fill out a pew card and place it in the collection plate, sign our guest book on the podium near the church entrance.

  • Is child car provided?

Child care is provided for children 3 and younger on Sunday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 am in the Nursery on the 2nd floor of the Parish House.

  • Are children allowed in worship?

Children are welcome to participate in worship, and we hope their participation will nourish them as they grow. An annotated bulletin, especially appropriate for children in elementary school, is available from the Ushers. Younger children (3 years old through 3rd grade) may participate in children’s chapel during the 9:30 service, and will be invited to join the procession to the chapel before the sermon. They will return in time for the Eucharist with their families.
